About

The Third Vision: Around 1:00 pm is a 2007, 5-minutes experimental video by Egyptian-French visual artist and filmmaker Khaled Hafez. The work is shot in Hi-Definition transformed on mini-DV in 2006. The video is principally a first-person storytelling represented by a typewriter-on-screen assembled with found and television footage in a diary-like narrative. The project was first screened at the 2nd Thessaloniki, Greece, directed by Katerina Koskina. Synopsis The Third Vision: Around 01:00 pm is a nostalgic narrative of visuals that Hafez asserts, “are stuck” to his memory and that “shape” his studio and film practice. The use of stock photographs, images and audio in the assemblage creates a hybrid story “that actually took place” in Hafez personal life, recounted through the timeline seen on the screen. Hafez used the modern changing social and military histories of Egypt to create the principal structure of the work.
