Applying a modernist strategy of estrangement, visual artist Christoffer Joergensen explores the potential of landscapes that evade simple interpretations. In an iterative process of alienation, Joergensen unveils underlying structures of scenic compositions, at the same time transforming them into mindscapes. Following the concept of ‘soft world building’, his topographies are not rooted in the vacuum of perfectly thought-out and logical systems. Instead, their source lies in today’s inconsistent coexistence of evolving media and cultural techniques. By combining painting, photography, photogrammetry, sculptural work and 3D images, he creates snapshots of worlds that allow for exploration and interpretation. While the exact dimensions might be unclear, the constantly evolving interactions of light and shadow hint towards universal principles and the cycle of life.

To me, the quest for cosmic magnificence appears as an echo in Noémi’s music», Joergensen explains.
