About
This film is derived entirely from frame 3744 of the preceding work. The practice is situated within an ongoing enquiry into process and investigation, a sustained search for compositional refinement that allows the journey to continue. The origin of this journey lies in my original film, 'Blythian Memes', a film conceived as a homage to place. Following its completion, each frame was subjected to detailed examination in order to assess its formal and aesthetic potential. Some selected frames were recontextualised as digital artworks while others provided the structural basis for new films. On occasion, a single frame proved sufficient, at other times two frames were placed in tension, their imagery deconstructed and recomposed to generate new visual languages. The work resists closure. It unfolds as a series of pauses that allow for reflection before the process of exploration recommences.
