Performance with creative audience participation, Teatro Sociale, Trento, 2004 Co-production: Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea, Trento Nightmare, which took place on May 28, 2004, at the Teatro Sociale, was one of the first in a number of performances and actions realized within the framework of In Art Dreams Come True.Katarzyna Kozyra portrayed an opera singer who has a dream on the night preceding her debut on the stage. In the dream, all initially seems to be progressing as it would during a normal opera performance, yet the ensuing accumulation of strange events creates the impression of witnessing someone's torturous nightmare. Each act deepens the intensity of the singer's drama, as she finds herself unable to sing, forgetting her lines, and ultimately being ignored by an outlandishly elegant audience. Spurned even by her Mastro (Grzegorz Pitułej) and ultimately replaced by a superior singer, out of embarrassment she is finally consumed by fire. In the end, audience members climb onto the stage and the performance disappears amidst the crowd.
