Altar for Jizo and Miroku

This three-channel video installation, presented on CRT monitors, places Jizo and Miroku within a single altar-like structure. In Buddhist tradition, Jizo watches over the dead and the past, while Miroku embodies a future world yet to arrive. The side screens present a Japanese Jizo statue and a Korean Miroku statue, while the central film essay weaves Buddhist narratives from both countries with footage from travels undertaken after personal loss. Rather than directly representing that loss, the work positions it within a broader temporal and collective register, critically marking the present caught between past memory and an unreachable future.
