72 SPINS AROUND A SIGNIFICANT OTHER

Tatyana Sherstyuk's project "72 SPINS AROUND A SIGNIFICANT OTHER" was included to the 8th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art. The artist is testing contemporary magical rituals, descriptions of which were found online. The results of these creative experiments are showcased as exhibits for the exhibition.

CIRCULAR RITUAL

The circular dance holds a certain mystical significance. This dance reflects the worship of the Sun and the Sky. By dancing this ritual circle and moving rhythmically in the direction of the Sun, people seem to ascend to the heavens: the soul is cleansed, all troubles are left behind, and good fortune and success lie ahead.

The circular dance has deep roots in ancient times and is linked to beliefs in multiple cultures. The circular ritual originated as a magical, ritual dance circle among sun worshipers.

The circle of dancers can be small or include several thousand people.
