About

The project proposes the creation of biodegradable machines, made from biological materials collected from Costa Rican ecosystems, with the aim of installing those machines in said ecosystems and documenting through video the processes by which they degrade and reintegrate into the environment. Conceptually, the project seeks to make speculative technologies visible: technological devices created with materials and manufacturing techniques closer to ancestral knowledge, using biological materials belonging to specific, renewable, and environmentally friendly ecosystems. These devices become speculative design pieces by reconnecting with organic materiality through new technologies, allowing us to imagine a scenario in which machines become hybrids with their environment, where they expire and reintegrate. ...What thoughts does a machine being devoured trigger?
