Andria's ingenious device correlates the direction of each of its streets with the orbit of a particular planet, and the shape of buildings and public places with the outlines of constellations and the position of the brightest stars. Italo Calvino's "Invisible Cities" The paper examines the model of reading by the stars and explores light pollution in megacities. The illumination of the night sky by artificial light sources, the light of which is scattered in the lower layers of the atmosphere, interferes with astronomical observations, which metaphorically can be considered as reading by the stars. Considering light as a superposition of photons, quanta, the generated video sequence and sound are based on data on the light pollution of the city presented on the atlas of world light pollution https://www.lightpollutionmap.info The author uses data from the atlas of the world – information about the brightness of the sky at the zenith (artificial brightness, Bortle coefficient, altitude above sea level). A significant part of urban or industrial lighting is directed or reflected upwards, which creates so-called light domes over cities. This is caused by the suboptimal and inefficient design of many lighting systems, leading to waste of energy. The effect of lightening the sky is enhanced by dust particles and aerosols distributed in the air. Astronomy is very sensitive to light pollution. The night sky observed from the city has no resemblance to a real dark sky. The glow of the sky (scattering of light in the atmosphere) reduces the contrast between the stars and galaxies and the sky itself, which makes it difficult to see dim objects, and therefore to view and read them. The work shows the dependence of the brightness value on the distance from the center, brightness depends on readability in accordance with star patterns (blurriness, illumination). The superimposition of photons of artificial lighting does not allow you to read the natural pattern of the stars.
