About

Mutatis Mutandi is a proposal that arises from reading the book Invisible Cities, which in turn tells the adventures of Marco Polo, from this premise a imaginary of distant places superimposed on the city in which one is present, from where differences, similarities, relationships and contradictions are generated between one place and another, with the aim of reflecting on the place where we are standing and the places where we would like to be. The new imaginary cities emerge from an exercise of fusion and reconfiguration of spatio-temporal, political, social, cultural, natural, artificial, formal, artistic, and emotional elements. From this mixture of forms and contents, malleable due to their digital-virtual condition, places gradually emerged that in the process developed their own silhouette—continent—and their own content. Imagined territories in which water and earth merge, merge, alternate from confluences that alchemically dilute distance and open or activate channels of exchange between connection points that, we could say, were already there, as if waiting, latent, potentially. This is how the work captures fragments from different places along with my place of origin and residence, Venezuela, in order to reflect on its benefits and shortcomings to open the door to possibilities of developing better cities and better countries.
