Birgir learned of Helena’s profession and was anxious to share his creative ideas with her as he was taking dance classes himself. The film was the result of a collaborative project fuelled by the spark that was initially felt between the two artists. Behind the scene: In 2000 Helena was working on another project at her home in Reykjavík where Birgir was for a visit to fix her electric in her house. When they started to talk during their works she discovered that Birgir has been dancing for his life and wanted to show her. They went together to a location of Birgirs choice and Helena took her camera where she captured him in his dance and other creations. Still today Helena has all this material on a mini tapes, still on her mind to create more material outside of the one here. Here we have two minutes of him being pure as his heart, expressing his emotions of rough past and social pressures. This video has been screened all around the world since 2001, at film festivals and as installations at art exhibitions, and is still running.
