Ephemeral Echoes : Timeless Recollection by Sukatoyo & Beverney Shane https://analogamigo.bandcamp.com/album/ephemeral-echoes-timeless-recollections Sukatoyo is the experimental music persona of Dubai-based Filipino artist and Analog Amigo Records founder Jordan Cortez. Sukatoyo started out as an after-hours spiritual discharge back in his college days and evolved into a full-on sound design project after the release of his early recordings in 2019. His lush and relatively floating emotional ambient soundscapes are composed and generated using a variety of instruments, digital plugins and effects and are often recorded directly into tape with minimal editing and mastering. He performed and recorded a live four-part improv that encapsulates different emotions of the visual narrative created by Beverney Shane. These live compositions fuses various sound elements reflecting the cultural diversity of the neighborhoods of Karama, Bur Dubai and Deira. The performance was showcased at Electrofest 2024 held at NYUAD Arts Center in Abu Dhabi on the afternoon of 17th February 2024 and was recorded directly into tape. Beverney Shane is a versatile creative who was born and raised in Dubai with Sri Lankan roots. Inspired by the connection between culture and identity, Shane enjoys looking for the links between niche communities, values and creative outputs. When not with his cat, Shane enjoys people-watching in the oldest neighbourhoods of Dubai, loosely organized raves and trekking in the Northern Emirates. His visual projections and artwork weaves a tapestry of Dubai's humble beginnings by evoking memories and stories from his upbringing in the aforementioned vibrant neighborhoods. Through luminous immersive projections, viewers are transported to an era of Dubai with a warm embrace of community that defined the essence of old Dubai and was the pulse of the city.
