Bodies Floating Into The Land | Poseidon Sanctuary in Tinos curated by Eleni Riga & The office of Hydrocommons, under the context of All of Greece One Culture supported by the Hellinic Ministry of Culture and the Greek National Opera The performance draws information from scientific and anthropological research and transforms it into a visual, choreographic and musical conception with a subversive character. The performance focuses on the protection of biodiversity in the Mediterranean Sea and the consequences of climate change on human and non-human organisms. Starting from the invasive alien species, such as lionfish, seahorses, purple jellyfish, etc., which are transferred to the special tanks of the ships together with the seawater they use to maintain their stability, we reflect on the vulnerability of all "sea bodies" ». The play is informed by the location it takes place in – here, the hard-nosed sea god gets a positive sign as a miraculous doctor. The symbolic nature of the treatment conveys messages of hope for the future of the planet and comfort in the face of environmental distress. The work is made in collaboration with the musician Michalis Kalkanis and the choreographer Despina Sanida Krezia.
