About

<Wavescape for Walla> gathers the waves sensed between radio channels to create an ocean, based on auditory and tactile memories of vanishing devices. Each radio is equipped with a light sensor that responds to a hand-drawn animation projected onto it, activating the radio’s knob via a motor. As a result, the radios generate wave sounds with slight time delays, collectively forming clusters of waves—an auditory simulation of the ocean. Through this work, the piece seeks to capture the media potential of electronic devices. By walking among numerous devices displayed in the exhibition space, viewers can observe the hidden operations of machines in our highly advanced technological society. The act of watching how something works itself shifts into the realm of appreciation, metaphorically suggesting that we still live within a theater—perhaps even within a projector. This creates a cinematic experience that subtly reflects our relationship with technology and perception.
