About

Blue Gall R/Evolution 2025 3 mins 20 secs 4K Sound and video: Linda Loh Uromycladium tepperianum is a rust fungus that infects more than 100 species of Acacia trees. On some species, the chemicals also cause masses of shoots to grow from the stems, termed witches' brooms. Here they are biomorphic sculptural forms with their own equilibrium. Just like the gall becomes enmeshed into the leaves of the tree, clumping, these sculptures entwine. Earthy, beyond earthy. Nature, not nature. Unity, disunity. Bodily, not bodily. Revolving like a dervish, perhaps meditative, finding their own balance, they morph and evolve into a strange state, drifting away.
