About

A journalist uncovers a series of five cryptic videos uploaded by a Brazilian man who claims to have assassinated the President of the United States. Presented as a fictional Icelandic documentary, "A role play" is a high-speed dive into the digital abyss. The film reconstructs the killer’s digital footprint by stitching together a chaotic collage of found footage: YouTube clips, Wikipedia entries, WhatsApp messages, video game snippets, street scenes filmed from a studio window in São Paulo, and more. By blending these virtual traces with real news media, the "mockumentary" explores the breakdown of communication in the digital age. Ultimately, the work is a meditation on how we build our identities online and a critique of the blurred lines between political violence, manipulation, communication, performance art, and the invisible structures of our cybernetic lives.
