Fragments of meaning (Frammenti di senso) is a sound artwork that delves into the complexities of ruminative thinking and other thought disorders through an immersive auditory experience. Created using algorithmic processes within specialised music programming software, the piece reflects the repetitive and obsessive qualities of rumination, as well as the fragmented nature of disordered thought. It is designed to continuously emit sound, mirroring the cyclical, intrusive patterns of these mental processes. The project is be presented in two formats: as a physical sound installation for galleries and exhibitions, and as a digital version accessible online. Through this work, the listener is invited to engage with the emotional and cognitive turbulence characteristic of thought disorders, with the soundscape acting as an auditory metaphor for the disruption and persistence of ruminative, obsessive and disordered thinking.
