Liang Juhui's video "One Hour Game" (1996) is typical of the works qualified as interventions of an urban guerrilla. Liang Juhui, one of the founders of the Cantonese "Big Tail Elephant Workgroup" is known for staging such artistic interventions in the city of Guangzhou. These interventions were to disrupt the everyday routine of the drastically changing Southern Chinese metropolis. For "One-Hour Game", he set up a video game in a workers’ elevator of a construction site in Guangzhou for one hour. Thus interrupting the busy schedule of the workers and imposing a playful pause, he offered a different view of the rapid transformation of the city and re-appropriated the estranged urban environment.
