MIRAGE - Volumetric Light Installation

Paris, 2024 - OVVO Studio presents Mirage, a folio project that pushes the boundaries of light art through 3D volumetric LED technology. This installation, sculpted in space, uses thousands of floating voxels to create weightless shapes and textures, visible from every angle.

Conceived and fully produced by OVVO Studio, Mirage is more than a technological feat: it is a new form of visual writing in volume, where light becomes substance and depth a narrative tool.

SENSORIAL IMMERSION:

With Mirage, we set out to explore a simple yet dizzying question: what happens when light takes shape?

We designed a 3D volumetric LED installation composed of thousands of voxels, capable of drawing moving images in the air, visible from every angle. This project is not merely a technical feat - it is a form of writing in space, a digital sculpture where depth and perspective become narrative tools.

To bring this vision to life, we developed a custom in-house software, designed from the ground up for our Unified Production Environment. This tool allowed us to work entirely offline, with a level of precision in previewing that matched the final result almost identically, from the earliest visual sketches to the sequence played on the installation.

First unveiled in 2024 at the George V hotel for a luxury brand, Mirage has since evolved into new forms, including Nebbiu, presented at Festi Lumi, showcasing the project’s ability to reinvent itself and adapt to diverse contexts.
