Moving image installation. Video, Water, Porcelain, Wood. 18ftx8ftx7inches(base) 18ftx8ft(screen). 3mins 31secs. This piece was inspired by a moment when I nearly drowned in a swimming pool full of my family members. For the first time, I understood the solitude of existing. I swam over to my family members to tell them what had happened but before I could, my sister said “I forgot you were even here, where did you go? We didn’t even notice you were gone” The hand-sculpted faces were a durational part of the installation. They were placed in the water and left over the time of the exhibition to melt. Highlighting the evidence of something lost. Black sand was placed around the screen and pool to create an effect of emergence.
