About

The possibilities and hope for the human race are found in our collective history, and in our ability to dream a vast constellation of possible futures. I created 20th Century Yodel Electro to celebrate 2024 Public Domain Day in the United States, when film created in 1928 and sound recorded in 1923 entered the public domain. The music began with a 1923 recording of Paul Van Dyke's "That Naughty Yodel", which I restored and remixed before writing the new final section. The story is told using video from eight sources, most from 1928. The Battle of the Sexes (1928) Leon Theremin Playing His Own Instrument (1928) Lonesome (1928) Moonland (1926) Les Quatre Cents Farce du Diable (1906) Say Ah-h! (1928) Shooting Stars (1928) The Sky: A Film Lesson in "Nature Study" (1928)
