About

The Arabian Peninsula, being the birthplace of many sciences like Astrology, Astronomy and Medicine, includes areas that are both evolved by other civilizations across time and that have been practiced and evolved drastically by making it more accurate and far-reaching science. This is a very good example of the science of Physiognomy. The Greek term ‘Physiognomy’, Firasa (discernment) encompasses other supportive sciences and is incorporated with a cognitive process of sharp insight combined with intuition. It is also known to be the study of general form and countenance of our surrounding environment. To have an insightful Firasa, it shall go through a journey of an observational stage, confirmation, contemplation, and insight then be considered an accurate discernment. The People of the Arabian Peninsula (especially inland areas) had the ability to predict the weather, judge the people they encountered, identify allies from foe settlements, ancient water sources and navigate the bare landscapes using nothing but their insightfulness in reading the starry night skies. This installation is the visual journey of the artist to Firasa exploring multidisciplinary environments across multi continents that encompasses landscapes and the extra-terrestrial vastness of the night sky.
