About

Robin Hood Gardens - Rewound is a film that questions how a story is told through a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN). We configured the GAN algorithm to reimagine a memory haunted by a recently departed past and the hope for a future that never arrived. The neural network, as a ‘ghost’ that explores the environment of the Robin Hood Gardens council housing estate in London, which had been considered a utopian social housing project at one time, glowing with its own rediscovered sense of a future. Algorithmically generated visions aimed at untangling the cultural nostalgia for a certain place and time, which the late Mark Fisher described as lost futures.
