Dance & Choreography by Inés VIEITES Production Assistants: Alma LLERENA & Víctor M. Barbera Music, filming and editing: Blas PAYRI A screendance by Blas PAYRI “The Seven Thresholds” is a screendance short film that follows the transformative journey of a dancer through seven thresholds, each accompanied by a unique choreographic phrase. Inspired by Saint Teresa of Avila’s mystic exploration of seven inner dwellings, this film blends abstract dance movement with tangible thresholds to portray the dancer’s evolution from a state of high tension to a moment of serene tranquility. The filming technique requires a specific choreography of the camera that moves in synchrony with the dancer in each of the seven phrases, their trajectories intertwined to bring together the ethereal world of dance and the physical reality of thresholds and walls. This piece explores a technique of filming where the camera and the dancer must be synchronised and follow complementary trajectories, creating a true combined choreography of dance and camera movement.
