About

This series is a commentary on the demands of an image, especially the image of a woman. Drawing on the symbolic genealogy of feminine origin myths—from Botticelli's rendering of Venus’s oceanic birth to the first Photoshop manipulation, Jennifer in Paradise—it reveals a grotesque absurdity inherent in these enduring beachside fantasies. Created through custom AI processes that remap the artist’s face and movement data, these figures exist between image and embodiment. The artificial attempt to render “woman on a beach” from a field of digital noise results in figures that hover between being and becoming, resisting both the finality of form and the dominance of the visual frame. These fluid femmes are images refusing to do what they’re supposed to. Originally presented as 12 unique video loops of variable size and duration. Adapted version here for widescreen single-channel durational streaming.
