Influenced by horror cinema, Clara Lemercier Gemptel creates various bodies in her films – stereotyped, hollow, frightening, ghostly – each of which questions, in its own way, the possibility of otherness in cinema. Through these bodies, she unravels cinematographic codes, aesthetic norms, and the power and domination struggles that shape the representation of such bodies.
