About

This project examines the role technology can play in our longing to connect physically. Can machines be empowering tools that teach us about ourselves, our desires, and help us express our boundaries? Here, technology is the 'alien' between us, a strange presence that both separates and connects. The installation consists of two identical stations, each featuring an interactive sculpture. Two visitors enter from opposite sides and interact with these devices without seeing one another. The artworks transmit live physiological data, including temperature, heartbeat, and breathing patterns. Each participant can feel and respond to the other’s state in real time, creating an emotional feedback loop. Yet if one behaves abusively, the sculptures will defend themselves. The work thus invites care while demanding accountability in these mediated intimate encounters.
