Subjects of Memory

This film based on interviews with the artist’s relatives, the film is structured in three parts:

• Village
Centred on the former Voroshilovsky workers’ settlement, where both of the artist’s parents were born, this section brings together residents’ recollections of everyday life in the community.

• Factory
Focusing on the abandoned chemical plants of Dzerzhinsk, this section considers the development and decline of the region’s industrial landscape and its connection to the artist’s family history.

• Sludge
The final section addresses the environmental aftermath of chemical production and its continuing impact on the area.
