Future Energy

I was commissioned to create an immersive 360° film for the Blyth Festival of Energy. (This is the regular sharing sized version.) 

Future Energy is a 360° immersive experimental film created by Dex Hannon, commissioned for the Energy Central Learning Hub at the Port of Blyth and screened at the Festival of Energy.

Built from just three photographs of the Hub, the film uses intense layered animation, deconstruction and motion to push and transform the building's geometry, mirroring Blyth itself. Not erasing its past, but using it to construct something extraordinary.

The soundtrack, composed under the alter ego Skin Vehicles, weaves a found folk song celebrating Blyth's power stations in the 1960s together with modern electronic rhythm, techno textures and frenetic energy.

Blyth has always risen to the challenge. A ship built here, by a Blyth man, Captain William Smith made the first recorded sighting of Antarctica. Our port fuelled the Royal Navy through both World Wars. By the 1930s we were the largest coal exporting port in Europe. Now, the Energy Central Institute will make Blyth the centre of renewable energy innovation in the UK.
Blyth isn't waiting for the future. It's building it.
