"Why do our bodies have to match our skin...?" Donna Haraway This artwork delves into the fluid realm of digital identity, exploring the fragmented and reconstructed bodies that emerge from the physical world within the virtual landscape. Artificial Intelligence generates an apparent body and challenges the limitations of the physical self, embracing the transformative potential of the digital avatar. The body is no longer just a representation, the body is a transformation. We live in a world where pixelated skin shifts and morphs, reflecting the ever-evolving nature of online personas and the alteration of the physical body. Our birth skin is not enough and too often is disappointing. There is a disjunction between outward appearance and inner reality. In the digital sphere, we update and upgrade, we reprogram ourselves, and we are invited to shed the constraints of our physical form and construct identities that better reflect our truest selves when our flesh, and the physical world that surrounds it, become limited. The fractured forms and distorted features become a powerful metaphor for how our sense of self is both liberated and constrained by the digital world. We witness the unconscious desire to transcend the limitations of the physical, to "contaminate itself with technologies," as the era opens in which the unconscious wants to have its own body, wants to transfer outside itself the fractures and wounds of an inadequate "skin", of a "flesh", of a "blood". DIS/couraged. DIS/stressed. DIS/turbed. DIS/ordinary. DIS/verse. The disembodiment of every proportion. The negation of every perfection. The uncanny side of beauty.
