Big Knob 303 - participatory synthesizer

A community participation music project as part of the "Festival Henge" community participation art project at MIT's Media Lab, August/September/October 2025. The 303 synthesizer was constructed with 6 very large knobs clearly delineated for people to jam with us at the Friday Night Jam Sessions. For people who don't need to know music or anything about playing an instrument, a computer provides the notes and timing and the participants simply turn the knobs to modify the quality and nature of the sounds being generated by the 303. Created also so people with low vision or who are blind can participate with minimal instructions: basically here are the knobs, have fun! 303 synthesizers are particularly suited to this kind of interaction and the big knobs make it easy.
