WE ONLY KNOW IN THEORY/WHAT WE ARE DOING

WE ONLY KNOW IN THEORY/ WHAT WE ARE DOING was the title of my solo show at Felix Ringel Gallery in Dusseldorf September 2022, curated by Azad Asifovich. 

It is also an Algorithm edited film composed of parts of several films from my moving image repertoire including the film “Revisiting The Crash Scene / A Psychogeography” a situationist film which was mostly based on footages performed and filmed at the Bozar in Brussels and presented at the SPITZER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE in New York invited by professor Ali Hocek (and dedicated to Peter Wollen) combined with new material as well as my FMRI footages with the algorithmic edits by Max Seeger . This was projected during my solo show opening at Felix Ringel Gallery in Dusseldorf combined with the soundtrack of the show with the musical piece “ Schlaflied” and other noise arrangements by the Internationally renowned German composer Sven Helbig. This performance took place completely spontaneously in the back room of the gallery where I performed in person in response to this, as well as performed with Sven Helbig on live synths later for the finissage. 

The Algorithm edited film gives an emotional account of the stories fed to it with scenes at the studio and objects of memory interfacing through the piece. The question of throwing random thoughts, colours and data into an unknown universe and let it guide us was the main purpose. This freeform was the new direction with extreme aesthetics, medical imagery, melody and poetry.
