Twin Depths

The installation explores the relationship between humans and nature. It is based on a series of performances titled "An Attempt to Return Back to Native Element," which were live-streamed on YouTube. It features seven screens, each displaying a looped video representing a different performance from the series. 
The artwork highlights the environmental issues and the consequences of human actions on the ecosystem. It might aim to raise awareness about the environmental degradation caused by human activities, such as pollution, deforestation, or climate change. Over the course of seven days, Dementieva attempts to establish a presence underwater, but each endeavor ultimately ends in complete failure. The repeated failures in establishing a presence underwater emphasize the difficulty of finding alternative habitats for humans if we continue to disregard the well-being of our natural surroundings. It prompts viewers to reflect on the consequences of our actions and the urgency of taking responsibility for the environmental crisis we are facing.
