Yes it is. No it isn't. 看山아니山,見水아니水
*Seeing Mountain 아니山, Seeing Water 아니水* means “seeing a mountain is not a mountain, seeing water is not water.” The work consists of multiple text-based experiments, using AI’s vast data and computational power to analyze and restructure the relationships among Chinese, Japanese, and Korean texts in terms of sound, meaning, and form. It seeks to uncover the greatest common denominators within the Sinosphere (countries using or have used Chinese characters) while also revealing essential cultural differences. The project proposes an alternative cross-cultural mode of reading and interpretation, highlighting new possibilities for text creation in the AI era of “post-penmanship” and “post-handwriting.” 《看山아니山,见水아니水》意为“看山不是山,看水不是水”,作品多组文本书写实验创作构成。通过 AI 海量的数据和强大的算力,对中、日、韩三国文本在音、义、形等多个层面的关联性进行分析与重组。作品试图从数据中挖掘出汉字文化圈中的最大公约数,以及它们反映出的文化本质差异,给出另一种跨文化的阅读和解读,同时展现在“后硬笔”、“后手写”的 AI 时代文本创作的新多样可能。
