YATRA is an intimate, analog journey into the depths of consciousness, femininity, and interconnectedness — a poetic exploration of what it means to stay human amid chaos and illusion. Filmed on 16mm, it embraces imperfection and materiality as acts of resistance against a digitally homogenized world. Drawing from the Hindu philosophy of “Atman is Brahman,” the film unfolds through seven states of consciousness, where individual experience dissolves into a cosmic oneness. Through ritualistic trance and improvisation, the characters navigate moments of calm, chaos, and awakening, guided by their sensory awareness rather than external narratives. YATRA challenges traditional stories of rescue by celebrating feminine agency and self-empowerment, emphasizing that salvation comes from within. It offers a space for self-reflection, urging viewers to question their own realities and recognize the fragile networks connecting self, other, and environment.
