WE ARE WHAT WE BREATHE
An image of a waterfall is flipped horizontally, becoming an abstract stream moving continuously from left to right. The entire soundscape is created solely from the artist’s voice — the repeated words I am, breath and other vocal sounds, layered and transformed from slow, dark registers towards lighter, almost childlike tones. Image and voice exist in continuous flux, dissolving distinctions between language and sound, body and environment, identity and transformation. Created during the Vasulka Chamber Residency, Reykjavik
