TRIPTYCH

Three intersecting narratives unfold and intertwine in the experimental short film / long form music video TRIPTYCH by queer, non-binary and disabled multidisclipinary artist sara gold. follow along with our anti-heroine Rapture, an escaped ocean-pen farmed salmon, as she dials 666 on her shellphone to reach her microplastic glitter dealer. as she trips out on glitter we are transported to her inner psyche, silent observers of her internal machinations as symbolic objects morph purpose and transform, alluding to a darker world rumbling beneath the surface. salmon farming, tar sands, conflict minerals, resource extraction, the futile war on drugs, geopolitical systemic harm, the erosion of queer and trans rights all swirl into one as the truth of it all being connected through systemic injustice seeps into the global consciousness. opium poppies become a tea of the highly viscous coal tar resin mastic, prepared and consumed by a mysterious woman dressed in the tattered silks of the industrial revolution. upon drinking the tea the woman from raptures vision awakens to find herself laying in the grass in a strange forest, far removed from her dismal reality. more glitter is consumed. Raptures mind now wanders to a dark dungeon like realm where two figures in black, justice and prudence, engage in a tarot reading. as the cards flip they reveal mirrored faces, judgement arrives in the form of The Devourer. a flesh and blood heart is weighed against the mirrored tarot cards. the heart is heavier and the devourer reaches out for their meal, biting, tearing and consuming the heavy heart of a cruel system. the black oily substance mastic oozes from the heart as it is torn asunder. We return to the gaze of a now lucid Rapture, her eyes peering into yours.
