Toilet Consciousness / 廁意識

Toilet Consciousness begins with a self-evident fact: the public restroom knows who you are before you enter. Its signage, layout, and provisions are not neutral — they encode a version of reality, one that sorts bodies into two categories and leaves the rest without a door. The work takes this encoded space as its starting point. Moving through a sequence of restroom environments, the viewer is placed inside bodies the architecture was not built for — the elderly, the transgender, the disabled, the animal, the post-human avatar. In each space, what was presented as obvious — who belongs here, what a body is, what a self is — begins to fracture. The restroom's binary logic is a form of false testimony: a claim about the world dressed as infrastructure. Toilet Consciousness does not argue against it. It lets the viewer inhabit the positions it excludes, briefly, until the claim starts to show its seams. The experience closes where it begins. Something has shifted — not in the space, but in how the viewer reads it. The architecture has not changed. The reality it constructs has. -Attention, please- This work is a VR 360° experience.
