The Outcast of the Universe (The Nova Method)

The Nova Method is a cinematic trailer from Outcast of the Universe, an ongoing series of twelve fictional film fragments generated from randomly selected GPS locations across Los Angeles County. The Palmdale chapter adopts the tone and structure of the Mulholland Drive trailer and centers on The Nova Method, a speculative desert organization that promises self-transformation while revealing more ambiguous forms of control. Drawing loosely from Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Wakefield, the broader project follows characters who abandon former identities and reappear in altered lives. Through fragments of narrative, landscape, and atmosphere, The Nova Method explores reinvention, belief, and the seductive architecture of belonging on the edges of Los Angeles.
