The Drop/Spectrospira

Blown glass, titanium, video animation, algae, with bio researcher Fiona Bell For this collaborative artwork, cast blown glass vessels from a 3d printed sound wave data form was filled with live spirulina algae. hrough deformation and phase transformation, a computer animated droplet visualizes sound wave data from a variety of sources. Snapshots of the drop are chosen, 3D printed, and made into sculptures cast in blown glass. A grow-light beneath the vessel illuminates the green liquid while providing the UV light necessary for it to grow in the gallery.
