The dream book

The Dream Book is a video artwork inspired by The Pillow Book, a classic of Japanese literature written by Sei Shonagon in XI century, that also inspired The Pillow Book. The work combines heterogeneous images taken from the web in a constantly accelerating visual carousel. As the sequence becomes faster, the soundtrack grows increasingly disturbing and disorienting. Fragments of text appear alongside the images, guiding the viewer through the flow of visual information. The artwork reflects on the overwhelming excess of images in contemporary digital culture. It explores the relationship between memory, desire, consumption, and visual stimulation. By juxtaposing unrelated content, the video creates unexpected associations and tensions. The piece questions the role of art and the meaning of images in the internet age. At the same time, it reveals how digital media continuously reshapes perception and attention. The Dream Book becomes both an immersive experience and a meta-reflection on contemporary visual culture.
