The Devil Man
The Devil Man is an undercover, accidental film made during a train journey between Malmö and Copenhagen. During the journey, we encounter the Devil Man, a passenger who claims that the devil is inside him and controls him. The unexpected encounter with the Devil Man gradually becomes a disturbing and intimate confrontation with belief, fear, morality and the construction of the other. As the camera observes the Devil Man, the boundary between reality and representation begins to shift. The Devil Man becomes both a person and an image, both the subject of the film and a figure shaped by the camera and the gaze of those watching him. His claim that the devil controls him raises questions about who is the Devil Man, and how fear transforms an individual into a figure of collective imagination. The Devil Man remains suspended between reality and fiction, between personal belief and social projection. Through this accidental encounter, the film examines what the Devil Man reveals about our own need to identify, represent and understand the figures we fear in a complex world.
