Inspired by body horror and the cycles of behaviour and histories, Ryan draws parallels between human and insect to question hierarchies of power, scale and collective impact. Ryan is interested in how societies experience and navigate times of rapid change and uncertainty. Exploring her mixed race identity through hybridity and mutilation, Ryan aims to examine the boundaries between human and non-human, natural and artificial, physical and virtual.
