Subverted Geography

This video explores what remains hidden beneath familiar landscapes. Through the gradual unveiling of fragmented territories, it juxtaposes visual expectations with an intentionally dissonant soundscape. The tension between what is seen and what is heard destabilizes the viewer’s perception of place, subverting the illusion of a fixed reality. Rather than documenting space, the work reconstructs it according to subjective criteria. It forges an alternative geography shaped by perception, memory, and reinterpretation. By transforming real urban environments into fragile miniature models through tilt-shift techniques and organic masking, the piece reveals how easily our sense of place can be edited, fragmented, and rewritten. In this way, the work embodies the spirit of RestArt Reality: it does not destroy reality, but exposes its constructed nature, inviting the viewer to question where the “true” image ends and the authored fiction begins.
