“She Was Always Watching Before You Called It A Feed.”

Then and Now is a series of digital photomontages that collapse historical time into the present. Archive photographs of Black, indigenous, and diaspora figures are transplanted into contemporary landscapes, highways, skylines, and open roads refusing the idea that the past is behind us. This work places a woman from the early 20th century inside the infrastructure of the present. She was always watching. We just built a feed around her. The construction of reality is not new. It is old. It has always been this deliberate.
