Self Portrait with 9gb of Personal Google Data

This artwork attempts to move beyond the focus on digital identity as self-made to highlight how our online selves are entangled with vast streams of personal data that also participate in constructing what might be called an unself. As Quinn (2016) suggests, the unself is never complete. It remains in constant flux — a transitional, non-representational sense of an othered “self” that emerges through ongoing digital processes.
