Sea.Islands - Mar.Ilhas
Sea.Islands - Mar.Ilhas is a video for immersive site-specific installations. It is a dreamlike work inspired by life at sea. It uses virtual reality techniques to present a fluid mathematical universe, whose processes of becoming unfold in real time. A Java application weaves human emotions by combining photos and algorithms to create a labyrinth of fantasies. Sea.Islands - Mar.Ilhas uses photos and videos with abstract qualities, evoking a sense of diving into the sea. The application is written in Java (running on Java 17) and uses the Java3D API. The Java3D application implements various algorithms, such as fractal growth, fractal terrain, particles, collision detection, herd, swarms, shoals, lights, materials, behaviors, shapes, animations, and navigation, and uses a brain-computer interface. The choice of Java is due to its object-oriented nature and cross-platform compatibility. The Brazilian islands documented are: Canela and Marajó (Pará) Ilha Bela (São Paulo) Ilha Grande (Rio de Janeiro)
