Sand Time

SAND TIME Sand Time reflects the ongoing “sand wars,” where a once-overlooked material has become a strategic global resource. Rapid construction in China and India has driven soaring demand for usable sand, intensifying extraction from rivers and coastlines. This has led to environmental damage and fueled illegal mining. Sand now stands at the center of growing ecological and geopolitical conflict. The work is part of Nauru National Pavilion at 61st Venice biennale 2026.
