Promessom

Promesson consists of a series of ceramic bread bowls and animations inspired by domestic life in a small village in southern Portugal. Recorded sound of local church bells and birds were analyzed into 2d spectrograms, mapped on digital 3d forms and animated as 'dough'. Forms were 3d printed and used to make bread bowls. The title refers to 'promessas' or 'promises' which during a yearly Portuguese festival take the form of bread rolls thrown from the church in the town square to represent promises made for the year.
