Polyrythmia

The artwork Polyrythmia explores how the body’s rhythms, together with technology, society, and work, continuously weave complex forms of mediation that shape our perception of time and our experience of the world. Henri Lefebvre's concept of the production of space argues that space is actively produced and shaped by the weaving of rhythms—ranging from natural bodily cycles, technological mediation and social routine that interact to form the fabric of everyday existence. The artwork Polyrythmia combines video footage of everyday rhythms—work, home, and driving—with personal biometric data (ECG heart rate and SPO2 oxygen levels). This data is used to generate real-time, dynamic point clouds that visualize how the rhythms of daily life continually combine, shift, and break apart, often beyond our control.
