Only on Thursdays
'Only on Thursdays' is based on a collection of clips from online “Girls’ Games” platforms, in which the user must groom, apply make-up to and dress the perfect girl–bride–female. An episode, brought to light from the sleep that generated it, manifests itself in an alternative dimension, as alarming as it is familiar. Between real and virtual conflict, a jet takes flight and dives back down; continuously, and only at times. The work explores the paradigms linked to the culture of performance by presenting a series of its variations. Inputs derived from the dream are juxtaposed in a fragmented narrative across two strands and recomposed into a visual dramaturgy. The word, across two tracks, vocalised and rendered as sound, marks the rhythm of an incessant, impersonal, inappropriate repetition – in the mind.
